What is the issue?
No deposit, no home. No home, no address. No address, no job. We are here to end the catch-22 of homelessness.
In the UK, asylum seekers often spend years in the asylum system waiting for a decision on their case. As an asylum seeker, you are not allowed to work for the first year of your claim, and if you are granted the right to work, it is hard to find an employer who will take you on. Asylum seekers are given just £37/week to live on.
As a result, most asylum seekers are unable to save money. When they are granted their LTR, they are given just 28 days to leave Home Office accommodation. Without a job (which takes weeks to secure) or savings, many refugees are left homeless within a month of receiving their refugee status.
Housing is not just about money
We know that housing is not just about the money.
We partner with expert organisations to offer support with housing, employment, training and mental health. With these partners, we offer wraparound support throughout the programme to ensure that participants are in the best position to remain financially independent.
